Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

La Casa de Esperanza operates a community-based, IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, with additional support from the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County. The program offers free federal and state income tax preparation and filing for low- to moderate-income individuals and families.

A key focus is ensuring that eligible clients claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)—a benefit that often increases refunds by more than $1,000. To better serve our community, La Casa provides culturally competent, bilingual tax services, with special outreach to underserved community.

Thanks to the support of Peoples State Bank, La Casa expanded into Milwaukee, opening a location that extends access to VITA services as well as other programs through our Center for Financial Stability (CFS).

Recognized for outstanding quality since 2010 by the IRS, La Casa’s IRS-certified tax preparers provide confidential, free preparation of federal and state tax returns for the current year —and prior years when capacity allows.

All tax returns are e-filed for efficiency, with most clients receiving their refunds within seven to ten days. La Casa de Esperanza proudly serves individuals and families across the entire state of Wisconsin, helping them maximize their refunds by reviewing all available tax credits for which they may qualify.

Free tax appointments are available during the daytime, evenings, and weekends. To schedule an appointment, call (262) 832-1534, fill out our appointment form, or scan the QR code with your cell phone.

To prepare your taxes online independently, visit My Free Taxes https://www.myfreetaxes.com/ , provided by the United Way.
