Charter school has traditional, dual-language offerings
WAUKESHA — As School District of Waukesha families begin bracing for school closures and the relocation of the district’s dual-language program, one local charter school says it is extending an invitation to consider its programs.
The Waukesha School Board voted 8-1 on Nov. 12 to close Bethesda, Hawthorne and the former Whittier elementary schools. The closures are part of the district’s long-term “Optimizing Our Future” facilities plan. Under option E1, the district plans to move the K-8 STEM School to Horning Middle School. Board member Diane Voit cast the lone “no” vote. The district’s dual-language programs will be located at Banting, Heyer and Lowell elementary schools.
