Primary Function

Responsible for a wide variety of custodial and low-level maintenance duties in order to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment.

Primary Duties

  1. Perform all duties to keep the building and classrooms clean and safe. Duties include but not limited to cleaning and routine plumbing repairs (unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals).  
  2. Follow procedures of proper use of all chemicals and tools to prevent damage to facilities, self or others.
  3. Preform all janitorial responsibilities to ensure a clean, safe and orderly environment to include but not limited to sweeping, mop, scrub, vacuum’ clean restrooms, empty trash, dust, and maintain appropriate supplies in respective areas.
  4. Assist with general facility duties but not limited to set up of facilities for meetings/conferences/events, inventory control ordering of cleaning supplies, immediately reporting problems, repairs needed.
  5. Prepare, complete, collect, and submit required items by due dates; to include, but not limited to reports, data, etc.
  6. Establish and maintain good communication with all stakeholders (i.e.; participants, staff, etc.).
  7. Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies.
  8. Implement and/or practice the duties and responsibilities of a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse under current policies and procedures, as required.
  9. Attend all meetings and professional development activities, as directed.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned (i.e.; may provide assistance with special projects and assignments).

Required Qualifications

  1. HSD/GED required.
  2. Minimum 1-year experience in housekeeping or maintenance
  3. Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
  4. Ability to perform physical labor involving the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of buildings
  5. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  6. Excellent communication and documentation skills, written and verbal, appropriate to target audiences across multiple functional areas, categories, levels, linguistic, and economic backgrounds; both in a team and individual environment.
  7. Excellent critical thinking; able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  8. Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the program needs.
  9. Transportation, valid Wisconsin driver’s license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Casa de Esperanza’s driving standards
  10. Must successfully complete and pass all background checks.

  2. The employee is regularly required to drive, stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, and walk. The employee is frequently required to see, talk, or hear. Finger dexterity is also required. Infrequent lifting, including files, will be encountered.                                     


  1. The job requires physical labor, indoor and outdoor work, work in extreme temperatures (winter/summer)
