Ways to Work
The lack of reliable, affordable transportation is a critical barrier that prevents many low-income families from finding and keeping the jobs they need to move ahead.
Through the Ways to Work® program, La Casa provides small, low-interest, short-term loans to low-income families with challenging credit histories to help them stay on the job or in school. With these loans, borrowers can purchase and maintain a reliable automobile, making it possible for them to find, continue and/or improve their employment opportunities.
Loan applicants must meet certain criteria and employment standards before they can qualify for a loan, and they must be an involved parent of at least one dependent child. In addition, program participants who receive a loan are required to take financial management classes, and must register with the local Rideshare program to promote the importance and benefits of carpooling.
