BI-LINGUAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR - Full-Time
- Receives referrals and interviews clients to obtain a history of presenting problems.
- Assumes a caseload of clients, providing counseling services on an individual, group and family basis.
- Makes frequent contact with clients to motivate them to take advantage of rehabilitation services.
- Provides crisis intervention services to clients.
- Makes follow-up contacts with clients as appropriate to ensure recovery.
- Participates in group activities which assist both clients and family members in understanding and coping with alcohol and other drug abuse problems.
- Contributes to planning and evaluation efforts in the development of treatment plans and programs at the clinic.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with clients, staff, and variety of mental health, community and social service agencies.
- May serve as a consultant to the community to interpret and explain alcohol and other drug abuse problems and the available rehabilitation services.
- Prepares detailed case records and reports in compliance with all applicable regulations and current state standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential Knowledge and Abilities
- Working knowledge and understanding of alcohol and other drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation programs.
- Working knowledge of social casework principles, practices and the methods in the field of alcohol and other drug abuse rehabilitation.
- Working knowledge of social, financial and health resources in the Waukesha and Milwaukee area community.
- Ability to provide culturally sensitive counseling to clients and their families.
- Ability to promote interest and participation in programs developed for the rehabilitation of the client.
- Ability to observe behavior changes and maintain detailed and current client case records and notes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, their families, and the general public.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English with extensive knowledge of Hispanic culture.
EDUCATION COORDINATOR - EHS - Child Care Department - Full-Time
This position will oversee the educational components of the Early Childhood Programs of La Casa.
Responsibilities will include:
- Conducting staff and classroom observation
- Reviewing and approving lesson plans
- Implementation of Creative Curriculum
- Assisting educational staff in the completion of screening and assessments
- Ensuring that programming meets the requirements of Early Head Start regulations and NAEYC standards
EARLY HEAD START TEACHER - DISABILITIES SPECIALIST FOR CHILDREN - Part-Time
Education or previous experience working with the families and children with disabilities. Must have knowledge of birth to 3-year program, process for referral and evaluation of children with suspected disabilities. Previous experience working with teachers, clinicians, therapists and families of children with diagnosed disabilities – 1 to 2 years.
Associates degree preferred or a combination of education and experience in the field of child development/disabilities. Please include a letter documenting your background, education and experience.
EARLY HEAD START SUBSTITUTE TEACHER - Part-Time
We are in need of qualified teachers to work part-time on an on-call basis.
Early Head Start program serves low-income infants, toddlers, pregnant women and their families. Head Start teaching staff enhances childrens physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development by providing a safe and nurturing educational setting, developing individual goals for children, providing on-going assessment on progress and facilitating transition into Preschool. Teaching staff support parents in their role as primary caretakers and educators of their children and encourage their involvement in all aspects of the program. They maintain on-going contact with families and work with all other components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health, special services, parent education and resource/referral) to integrate services into the family setting and help parents move toward self-sufficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Infant and Toddler Credential or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and 1 year of infant and toddler care experience.

ENERGY AUDITOR – Full-time Weatherization (on-going search - not currently hiring)
This position is responsible for performing audits in order to ensure that quality weatherization work is performed on all eligible clients’ homes to make their homes more comfortable and energy efficient. Requirements: 6+ months of energy auditing experience, knowledge of home construction process, Microsoft Office, good time management skills, flexibility, versatility and ability to meet deadlines for production objectives, team player, able to interact with diverse personnel in a busy environment, strong attention to detail, conscious of safety, will to learn, and able to speak and understand English.
On-going need:
1. Café Esperanza – FT or PT Wait staff, Dishwasher, Chef’s Assistant Must have experience in a full-service restaurant.
2. Early Childhood Educators Bilingual, multicultural day care positions. Shifts 1&2, Full and Part time. Must have high school diploma or GED and training in child development or child care.
3. Various Weatherization positions such as Energy Auditors , Crew Technicians and Crew Chiefs.
