DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION – full-time

BASIC FUNCTIONS: Primary responsibilities include overall leadership of and accountability for after school and summer school programs for kindergarten and elementary school age children. 

REPORTS TO:                       Vice President of Programs and Education Services

FLSA:                          Exempt

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

The Director of Education serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe environment. 

Achieving academic excellence requires that the Director of Education work collaboratively with all staff, parents and the Waukesha School District. 

This position requires a high degree of knowledge of research and data analysis, curriculum development and implementation, outcome measurement, personnel management and compliance. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.  Establish and promote high standards for all students and staff for academic performance and responsible behavior.
  2.  Meet with all parents to discuss program expectations including but not limited to high academic standards, attendance requirements, behavior standards, and access to grades.
  3.  Work closely with the Waukesha School District to monitor the performance of students during the academic school year. 
  4. Establish schedule for instructional programs. 
  5. Supervise instructional programs including evaluation of lesson plans, observing classes on a regular basis, and ensure the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development. 
  6. Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and function of the program.  This involves instructional programs, extracurricular activities, and discipline systems.
  7. Selection and evaluation of curriculum, instructional materials and equipment.
  8. Research and collect data regarding student needs, student performance, and student outcomes.
  9. Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student and the program.
  10. Participate as member of team preparing program for accreditation.
  11. Manage all aspects of the transportation including scheduling, safety procedures and DOT regulations.
  12. Adhere to USDA food program regulations.
  13. Adhere to State of Wisconsin Administrative Code DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
  14. Attend meetings as requested by supervisor.
  15. Ensure all required reports are submitted accurately and within the required time frame.
  16. Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion at all times.
  17. Perform all other duties as assigned.

 SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's Degree highly preferred in Education, Educational Leadership, Administration, Education Policy or closely related field.  
  2. Minimum of five years experience as an educator.
  3. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
  4. Knowledge of family dynamics.
  5. Demonstrated ability to balance regulatory requirements with budget constraints and community needs.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  7. Must be able to communicate in both Spanish and English with native or near native fluency in both languages.
  8. Has experience and/or training working with a diverse population.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  10. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

CDL DRIVER – Child Care – Part-time (15-20 hours per week)

  • CDL license with Passenger Endorsement required. 
  • Drive children to school in the mornings and pick up from school in the afternoons.
  • Responsible for upkeep and cleanliness of buses and vans.
  • Outings and field trips as necessary throughout the year.

 

EDUCATION COORDINATOR – EHS – Child Care – Full-time

BASIC FUNCTIONS: Reports to the EHS Director and provide technical support to the Early Childhood Education Program.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Education Coordinator is responsible for the planning, the direct implementation, and documentation of the Early Childhood Education Program education component. This position coordinates all aspects of curriculum implementation and instruction, screening and assessments, and supervision/monitoring of the Early Head Start (EHS) education component.  Work with staff members to increase level of education.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure programming meets the requirements of the Early Head Start regulations and NAEYC standards.
  • Perform as coordinator for nutrition and disabilities services.
  • Implement the Creative Curriculum.
  • Provide guidance and training to teachers and Family Support Workers in mastering the curriculum and assessment tools utilized by the EHS program.
  • Assist educational staff in the completion of screening and assessments.
  • Review and approve all lesson plans.
  • Conduct staff and classroom observations.
  • Collaborate with teachers in establishing and maintaining a center-based program environment that promotes social-emotional well being, positive child outcomes and parent involvement.
  • Observe children to provide guidance and assist the staff in the development of individualized plans based on program philosophy and practices.
  • Establish working relationships with individual staff members that are responsive to their professional development needs.
  •  Work with teachers to develop individual professional development plans.
  •  Monitor the recordkeeping and reporting of the child development and education component, including documentation of individualized child planning, developmental and behavioral screening and ongoing assessment.
  • Assist in the identification, development and coordination of staff training plans.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with staff and parents.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. 
  2. Three years experience in teaching and/or supervision in child care setting. 
  3. Bilingual Spanish Preferred
  4. Ability to effectively provide leadership within the Early Childhood Education Program.
  5. Ability to understand, interpret and implement successful teaching strategies.
  6.  Ability to communicate in writing and orally, procedural standards and conceptual information necessary for successful operation of the program.
  7. Skilled in motivating, training and evaluating staff.
  8. Ability to react with flexibility and sensitivity to changing situations and needs.
  9. Ability to act resourcefully and to problem-solve.
  10. Excellent written and oral communication required.
  11. Excellent organization skills required.

EHS – Substitute Teacher – Part-time (not currently hiring)

We are in need of qualified teachers to work part-time on an on-call basis.

Early Head Start program serves low-income infants, toddlers, pregnant women and their families.  Head Start teaching staff enhances children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development by providing a safe and nurturing educational setting, developing individual goals for children, providing on-going assessment on progress and facilitating transition into Preschool.  Teaching staff support parents in their role as primary caretakers and educators of their children and encourage their involvement in all aspects of the program.  They maintain on-going contact with families and work with all other components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health, special services, parent education and resource/referral) to integrate services into the family setting and help parents move toward self-sufficiency. 

Qualifications: Infant and Toddler Credential or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and 1 year of infant and toddler care experience.

Crew Technician – Weatherization – full-time (not currently hiring)

This position is responsible for job-site work and the completion of each job site. This position must be committed to work toward reaching the program goals and to work toward ensuring that quality weatherization wok is performed on all eligible clients' homes more comfortable and energy efficient.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Repair needed to attic repair sidewall and box-sill  insulation, test blower door and bypass preparation; repair windows and doors; replace glass; re-glaze windows; do general fiberglass and cellulose insulation; utilize proper air sealing techniques
  •  Obtain and conduct work assignments from the Crew Chief
  •  Assist Crew Chief in determining what materials are needed for each home
  •  Care for and maintain major equipment
  •  Comply with all safety rules and help trainees to learn them
  •  Prepare site as required.
  • Leave the work site in clean condition

Energy Auditor – Full-time Weatherization (on-going search – not currently hiring)

This position is responsible for performing audits in order to ensure that quality weatherization work is performed on all eligible clients' homes to make their homes more comfortable and energy efficient. 

Requirements:  6+ months of energy auditing experience, knowledge of home construction process, Microsoft Office, good time management skills, flexibility, versatility and ability to meet deadlines for production objectives, team player, able to interact with diverse personnel in a busy environment, strong attention to detail, conscious of safety, will to learn, and able to speak and understand English.

 On-going need:

1.  Café Esperanza – FT or PT  Wait staff, Dishwasher, Chef's Assistant  Must have experience in a full-service restaurant.
